Bob was born in Wharton, New Jersey and raised in Lafayette; he spent the majority of his adult life in Newton, New Jersey. He worked for Frederick’s Fuel for many years, retiring in 2012 as Manager of the Sparta, NJ office.
Bob was an active member of Newton Volunteer Fire Department for 18 years and a former member of the Newton Moose Lodge. He enjoyed classic car shows and listening to music from the 1950’s and 1960’s. It was not unusual to visit Bob and he would have the TV playing, his iPod with his music collection and the police scanner on listening to the local FD calls. Bob was known for his sense of humor, love of family and friends, and dedication to his family. He was adamant on keeping a meticulous lawn and took great pride in his well-kept yard and flowers. He was a mentor to many, a born leader and well loved by his long-time friends and family.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, William J.B. and Gladys M. (Pascoe) Neal; and his siblings, Joyce Curran, Virginia DeGroot and Ronald Neal. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marion R. Neal; his son, Scott Neal and wife, Corinne, of Newton; his daughter, Nicole Pierson and husband, Don, of Sparta; his three grandchildren, Hannan, Kennedy and Foster; and his beloved dog, Duncan.
A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held from 12 noon to 3 pm on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the Newton V.F.W., 85 Mill St, Newton, NJ.
