Paul was born on March 4, 1943 in Danbury, CT. His family later moved to Piscataway NJ, where Paul met his late wife Linda Crosby, born Linda Schenk, while attending Piscataway High School. After graduation, Paul enlisted in the U.S. military where he proudly served his country as a medic in the Navy from 1963-1967. Paul married the love of his life, Linda, on October 3, 1964, and they had five children. They were together 57 years until Linda’s recent death on March 31, 2021.
Paul worked as a credit manager for Benjamin Berman Carpet, Inc. in Secaucus, NJ for many years. Paul was also a great lover of nature, animals and the country lifestyle. In 1977, he moved his family to Sussex County NJ, where he enjoyed raising animals and planting vegetable gardens while teaching his children to do the same. Paul had an animated, larger-than-life personality and wry wit, which made an impression on practically everyone he encountered. He was an avid sports fan and took great joy in cheering on his grandchildren at their various sporting events. Paul also had a keen interest in politics and was a devout patriot. The only thing stronger than his love for his country was his love for his family.
Paul leaves behind a sister, Gail Leggett and her husband, Sam; in addition to his five children and their spouses; Kim Enowitch and her husband, Jim, Jackie Crosby, Kathleen Seward, Paul Eben Crosby III and his wife, Penny, Richard Crosby and his wife, Lynett; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his dog, Gus, now in the care of a family member. Paul’s physical presence will be deeply missed by his loved ones, but his indomitable spirit will never be forgotten.
Paul’s family wishes to thank the kind and compassionate staff at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice for their exceptional end of life care. In lieu of flowers, donations to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave, Newton, NJ 07860 would be welcomed.
A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton. Online condolences may be offered at www.smithmccrackenfuneralhome.com.
