Michael lived in Sussex County for most of his life, first in Walpack where his parents owned and operated the General Store. Later in life he moved, started a successful insurance business and raised his family here in the county.
He loved life, his work and most of all his 3 children (Bethany Partin, Catherine Gratcofsky & Stephen Thum) and 7 grandchildren (Lucy, Race, Preston, Stella, Cade, Kyla & Callen).
Those that had the pleasure of knowing Michael would say that he lived life on his own terms (and they would be correct). He enjoyed food, talking politics, religion and any other controversial topic that made him a pleasure to have at any gathering. He had the intrinsic ability to make you feel like you were the only person in the room while he was engaged in a conversation with you.
Michael truly was a person that everyone enjoyed being around. He was (is) loved by his family and will be missed on this day and every day.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, Michael is survived by his sister Lenore Robison.
Michael is predeceased by his Mother (Eileen Thum), father (Leonard Klopotoski), his adopted father (Theodore Thum) and brother (Tom Thum).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Father Johns Animal House (50 Father Johns Lane, Lafayette, NJ 07848).
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at a later date.
