Mary Josephine “Jo” (Buonerba) Cerreto Tramutola, of Lackawaxen, PA, passed away on May 21 2021, at home surrounded by her family. She was 102 years old, born to Josephine Palermo Buonerba and Joseph Buonerba, at home, at 209 New Street, Newark, New Jersey, on July 17, 1918.
She married her beloved late husband, Dominic Salvatore Cerreto, on March 31, 1940. They were the proud parents of Carmela Felice and the beloved late Joseph Giacomo. They were married 23 years before his death in 1963. She had been employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Principal Information Clerk for many years until her retirement.
After being a widow for 11 years, she married her beloved late husband Guarino “Weddy” Tramutola, Sr., on June 23, 1974. She became the stepmother to Weddy, Jr., beloved late Richard, and his beloved late wife, Patricia and Phyllis. They were married 22 years before his death in 1996.
She is survived by her daughter, Carmela Cerreto Meglio, of Clifton and her husband, Joseph “Jay”; a daughter-in-law, Lucille Giordano Cerreto, of Daytona Beach, Florida; a stepson, Weddy, Jr.; a stepdaughter, Phyllis; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
All family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service, “Celebration of Life”, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street Newton, NJ 07860, on Sunday, June 13, at 3:30 p.m. A memorial visitation will be held between 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, also at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ, at a later date.
