Julius was born in Newton and was a lifelong Sussex County resident. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and lived a life defined by service, loyalty and deep commitment to his country. Julius was an active member of the Newton VFW, where he found camaraderie and purpose among his fellow veterans. He worked many years as a Plant Manager for Rhone-Poulenc, formerly General Photo Products.
Julius was predeceased by his mother, Gladys (Pierson) Harrewyn; his wife, Gerda Hagelberg; his daughter, Jean Keats; and one brother. He is survived by his children, Susan Jones (Charles) and David Hagelberg (Linda); his grandchildren, Brian, Stephanie, and Mark; and 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and 3 sisters.
