He was born in Jersey City on August 9, 1936 to the late Edward Joseph and Grace (Smithson) Williams. James was raised in Leonia, NJ and was a 1955 graduate of Leonia High School. With his passion for computers and technology, James built a successful career as a computer programmer and data analyst beginning his career with ADP and retiring from Metromedia. James moved to Sussex County where he could spend his retirement close to family.
In his spare time, James enjoyed golfing and playing pool with friends. He was a fan of baseball, lover of animals and was known for his wit and easy going personality. James relished in jazz music and found joy in old movies, particularly comedies and Mel Brooks films. Above all, James treasured moments he spent with his family.
James was predeceased by his brother Edward J. Williams and is survived by his sister in law Lucia Williams, his nephew Michael Williams and wife Nancy, niece Patricia Cannone and husband Bobby, six great nephews T. J., Nick and Bryan Williams and Michael, Sean and Scott Costello.
Interment will be held privately by family at a later date.
