Henry was born on February 26, 1944 in Newark, NJ to the late Jack and Miriam (Liest) Pomerantz. Henry grew up in Irvington and lived in West Caldwell before settling in Sussex County in 1971. Henry earned his Bachelor's degree from Montclair State College and his Master's degree from Seton Hall University where he also received his certification in becoming a Psychologist.
Henry had a very involved career within the Sussex and Morris County communities. He started his career in Parsippany-Troy Hills Schools as a school psychologist and was a member of Special Services Advisory Committee, Drug Advisory, CORE where he was also a coordinator and founder of Children Are People, Too! He then went on to become a school psychologist at Wantage School District before becoming a Professor at Sussex County Community College and was the president of the adjunct faculty association. In 1999, Henry was elected the Morris County Volunteer of the Year and in 1993 he was the acting principal at the Special Children's School which he helped found.
Henry developed a love for photography that blossomed into a lifelong pursuit. He had a remarkable talent for seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary, creating images that told stories and evoked emotion.
The beloved husband to Kathleen Pomerantz, Henry is also survived by his daughters, Jennifer Irene Minson and Rachael Jane Stup (Scott); his grandchildren, Nick Stup, Gareth Minson, Aneurin Minson, Mairwen Minson, Caitlin Stup and Dillyn Minson; his brother, Paul Pomerantz (Marjorie) and his niece and nephews, Mark, Jessica, Michael and David Pomerantz. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Edward Pomerantz.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ 07860. A funeral service will take place on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow at Tranquility Cemetery in Green Township.
