Helen was born in Jersey City on December 20, 1950 to the late Louis John and Helen (Murphy) Gnecco. She held various odd jobs throughout her life but is remembered most for being a caring and loving homemaker. Helen was very creative, painting and crafting beautiful wind chimes out of sea shells she collected at the beach. She loved fishing with her beloved husband, John, and she was particularly fond of mowing her lawn on her prized John Deere mower.
Helen is survived by her loving husband John Mastrogiovanni; her daughter Danielle Mastrogiovanni; her brother Louis Gnecco; her beloved life-long friend Necia Fusco; her nieces Angela and Georgianna Gnecco and Jessica Eaton; her nephews Louis, Artie, Tony, and Louis Gnecco; and her six beloved grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Helen (Murphy) Gnecco; her brothers Arthur and Michael Gnecco; her niece Ruthie Gnecco; and her beloved dog Caesar.
A memorial visitation for Helen will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 3 pm to 7 pm at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton, NJ 07860. A Memorial Mass will take place on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 10 am at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 24 Halsted St, Newton, NJ 07860, followed by the Final Resting Place at Good Shepherd RC Cemetery on Airport Rd in Green Township.
