George Robert Hansen

George was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 13, 1934 to the late Sigurd and Bertha (Holst) Hansen. After obtaining his Associates Degree from Pace University, George went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his return home, he worked with his brother and opened their own business as a carpet installers for over 60 years. He worked for celebrities like Judy Garland, Jackie Gleason, Frank Sinatra and some memorable places such as PNC Art Center, Waldorf-Astoria New York, Empire State Building and the Twin Towers.

As an avid life-long athlete, George was a 13-time World Champion Speed Cyclist, 11-time National Champion Speed Cyclist, and in 1952 he earned the title of National Speed Skating Champion. George’s successful athletic career earned him an exclusive invitation to compete in the 1987 Bud Lite Triathlon in Hilton Head, South Carolina. George was very handy and built his farm on 17 acres of land, equipped with a large garage, barns, and a home to call his own.
