Fannie Waldron, a lifelong resident of Newton, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024, at the age of 86. Born Philomena Rocco on January 21, 1938, she preferred the name Fannie, which became her true identity.
A 1956 graduate of Newton High School, Fannie married Edmund Waldron in 1964, a union that lasted until Edmund's passing in 2013. As a dedicated homemaker, Fannie devoted herself to her family, occasionally sharing her culinary talents as a school cook, where her spirit and skills were greatly appreciated.
Fannie was predeceased by her husband, Ed Waldron; her grandson, Corey Stewart; her brothers, Louis, Dominick, and Pasquale Rocco; and her sisters, Mary Rivara and Frances Ryker.
She is survived by her children: Susan Faga (Dennis), Jeff Waldron (Meg), Karen Rhoades (Tom), and Michelle Kelly (Mike). She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Michael Faga, Mario Faga, Thomas Faga, Joseph Faga, Kaitlin Stewart, Heather Stewart, Alan Waldron, Tara Rhoades, Christopher Rhoades, Shane Kelly, and Leah Kelly, as well as nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she adored.
Fannie was an active member of the Red Hats, Newton Seniors Club, and many years ago enjoyed square dancing with her sister Frances. She loved camping with her young family and found joy in traveling with the Newton Seniors Club later in life.
Fannie had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel comfortable. Her home was a place of warmth and hospitality, where friends and family always felt welcome. She had an innate gift for making those around her feel valued and loved.
Fannie's legacy is one of love, family, and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton, NJ. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph RC Cemetery in Newton.
