Elizabeth Jane Vansyckle

Elizabeth Jane Van Syckle, age 95, of Newton, New Jersey passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022. Known as Jane, she was born in Franklin, NJ to the late Frank and Grace (Snook) Hubbard. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, majoring in Bacteriology. While in school, she served as a lifeguard at Swartswood State Park. A lifelong Sussex County resident, she spent many years as a geriatric social worker and volunteered at Newton Memorial Hospital. She was an organizer of the Newton branch of the YWCA and was the troop leader for Girl Scout Troop 127 for many years. Her first marriage to Herbert Reeves ended in divorce, and she was remarried to John Van Syckle of Newton the couple enjoyed traveling the world together. Jane is survived by two children, Westley Reeves (Frances) and Elizabeth Lindh (L.G.), two step children (Jill and Leslie Van Syckle), four grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
