Liz was born on July 28, 1967 in NYC and grew up in Frankford Township, NJ. She graduated from Sussex County Technical School. Liz’s favorite place was NYC where she spent her adult life and worked as a tour guide, Liz was delighted in sharing her love for the city. The beach, people and travel were Liz’s joys; she visited Australia, Tahiti, other parts of the south Pacific, Europe, and many parts of the United States. She was also an avid sports fan with an unwavering love for the NY Yankees.
She was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth McMullan Romer, Eugene C. Romer and Mary Ann (Desmond) Romer, and her two beloved aunts, Marion (Romer) Stevens and Katherine (Romer) Sklar. She is survived by her five siblings, James Romer and his daughter Hannah, Siobhan (Romer) Smith, her husband Ken and their daughter Eden, Mark Romer, Eugene Romer, his wife Lynne and their three children, and Margaret Romer and her husband George Morville.
Friends and family will remember Liz for her sharp wit and disarming sense of humor. She was quick with sarcastic comebacks and comic bits, never missing a beat. She loved to make people laugh and drew them in with her warm and generous personality. Liz enjoyed some fun side gigs over the years as the NBC Peacock mascot at Rockefeller Center and personal shopper at FAO Schwarz.
On Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the regularly scheduled 8 a.m. daily Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, 209 US-206, Branchville, NJ. Special prayers will be offered for the peaceful repose of the soul of Elizabeth Romer. A celebration of Liz’s life will be scheduled in her neighborhood at a later date.
Liz and her family are grateful to the many doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice for the wonderful care she received in the final weeks of her struggle with breast cancer.
