Dorothy was born in Ballina, Ireland on November 23, 1939 to the late Christopher and Nora (Ryder) Kenny. At the young age of seven, she immigrated to the Bronx and later moved to Teaneck, New Jersey where she graduated from Teaneck High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from William Paterson College.
Dorothy later relocated to Greenwood Lake where she would raise her son and daughter, Darryl and Canece. For 30 years, Dorothy was a dedicated elementary school teacher for the Ringwood School District, retiring in 1998. After her retirement, she relocated to Florida with her late husband, Donald M. Dodge. Upon Donald’s passing in 2010, Dorothy began splitting her time between her daughter Canece’s home in Fallbrook, CA and her son Darryl’s home in Montague, NJ. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed scrapbooking and crafting.
Dorothy is survived by her son Darryl Curry (Sharon); her daughter Canece Curry-Huber (Robert); her daughter Joan Green (Michael); her son James Dodge (Maureen); her brother Christopher Kenny (Brenda); her grandchildren Brian, Kevin, Kellen (Josh), Hayley (Brian), Jackson, Brady, David (Tina), Ian (Alessa); great children Hudson, Hazel, Logan,Karalyn ,Harper .her nephews Buddy & Brian Eirman; her great-nephews Zack and Brandon; and her great-niece Brianna.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Donald M. Dodge; her sister Phyllis Eirman; and her parents Christopher & Nora (Ryder) Kenny.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, NJ 07860.
