Albert Murphy Jr.

Murf was born in Newton and was a lifelong Sussex County resident. He worked as a truck mechanic for many years, starting his career with Fruehauf Trucking. He then went to Gindy Trucking for several years; finally, he retired from Husky Trucking. Murf enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years. He was a man who lived a simple life, always content with what life had to offer.

Murf was predeceased by his parents, Albert Murphy, Sr. and Grace (Conklyn); his wife, Joanne (Sliker) Murphy; and his son, Richard Murphy. He is survived by his son, Wayne Murphy; his daughter, Cheryl Cantagallo and husband, Michael; his 5 grandchildren; and his 8 great-grandchildren.

Interment of Murf’s ashes will be held privately in Branchville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Albert’s memory to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave, Newton, NJ 07860 or to the Newton Medical Center Foundation, 175 High St, Newton, NJ 07860.
