Born August 13, 1930 in New Hanover Co. NC, he was the son of the late Samuel Willis Webb and Pauline Dusenbury Webb. Samuel was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired as Director of Safety from Lockheed Missile and Space Corporation.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Novella Abernethy Webb; brothers, James “Jim” Webb and Earl Hampton Webb; and sister, Mary Ellen Parish.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele Fancher and husband, Michael of Catawba; sons, Douglas R. Webb and wife Debbie of Claremont and Danny “Dan” F. Webb and wife, Brenda of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren; Leanne Morrow, Heather Bailey, Andrew Francis Webb, Taylor Webb, and Tamara Webb; great grandchildren, Tyra Bailey, Kaleb Bailey, and Jacob Dula; sisters, Martha Ray Frye of Conover, Shelia Bell of Claremont, and Myrtle Bauguess of Wilmington; brothers, George “Pete” Webb of Conover, Roland Webb of Birmingham, AL, and Donald Webb of Atlanta, GA.
A graveside service with military rites by American Legion Post 16 will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Greene officiating.
The family will receive prior to the service at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
