Paul Edsel Ingram, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Born February 24, 1926, in Iredell County, he was the son of the late Willie Lee Ingram and Mary Etta Mecimore Ingram. He was a member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden where he was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher. Paul was a member of Gideons International, Lincoln East Camp and was a life member of Catawba Lodge #248 AF & AM. Paul spent 43 years on the court square in downtown Newton, working 15 years at Eagles Five & Dime and 28 years as co-owner and owner of The Young Mens Shop. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served aboard the USS Adair in the South Pacific during World War II. Paul was one of three remaining survivors from the USS Adair and was looking forward to their upcoming reunion in Pigeon Forge, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Korn Ingram.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Ronnie Ingram and wife, Jaimee of Fallston and their children, Mason Ingram and Colby Ingram; long time companion, Shirley Butler of Newton and her three sons, Bobby Butler and wife, Kelli of Newton and their children, Olivia and Seth Butler, Rodney Butler of Elon, NC and Dennis Butler of Milton, FL; step-son, Tim Hallman and wife, Sue of Statesville and their daughter, Jodie LaFollette and husband, Travis; step-daughters, Beth Watson of Catawba and her children, Josh Marlow, Jacob Marlow and wife, Jenna and Debbie Pierce and husband, Steve of Troutman and their daughters, Hannah Pierce, Sarah Craddock and husband, Mike; sister, Betty Parlier of Statesville; special friend, Bud Reinhardt of Newton; and many nieces, nephews
and other special friends.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Staton officiating. The casket will lie in state 45 minutes prior to the service. A graveside service with military rites will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Deacons of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers and members of Gideons International will serve as honorary pallbearers.
