Olene Rebecca Cannon

Born April 14, 1933 in Catawba Co., NC, she was the daughter of the late Dorus Proctor and Mamie Correll Proctor. Olene was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Newton and had worked as an office manager of Hickory Knitting Mills and retired as manager of the Battered Women’s Shelter in Conover. She was an avid reader and enjoyed making friends on social media.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M. Dan Cannon; 3 brothers, Burley Proctor, Howard “Bud” Proctor and Vance Proctor, Sr; 5 sisters, Leona Sites, Eula Rudisill, Ethel Lentz, Ruby Baucom and Jessie Morgan.

Survivors include sons, Glenn N. Jarrett of Hickory and David C. Seabock and wife, Cecilia of Hickory; daughter, Sherry Graves and husband, Danny of Charlotte; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Bumgarner and husband, Lander of Maiden; grandchildren, Geoffrey Seabock of Hickory, Rebecca Seabock of Hickory and Kevin Graves of Charlotte and a great grandchild, Gage Seabock of Hickory.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton. A private graveside service for family will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
