Born September 6, 1960 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Leslie Jackson and Mary Marcella Josey Sigmon. He was a member of Starmount Baptist Church and was employed as a painter.
Mitchell started painting when he was just seven years old; he also enjoyed farming.
Survivors include his daughter, Melinda Sigmon; his former wife, Lisa Sigmon; a sister, Annette Newton and her husband, Wayne; two nephews, Cody and Daniel Newton.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016 in the chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton. Pastor J.D. Grasty will officiate and burial will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery in Claremont. The family will receive friends prior to the service, Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Pallbearers will be Danny Hollar, Adam Stewart, Stanley Stewart, Everette Setzer, Cody Newton, Daniel Newton, and Tim Cox.
