Born October 21, 1934 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late William Hampton Cooke and Ella Hefner Cooke. She was a member of North Newton Baptist Church in Newton where she taught Sunday school for first and second graders for 10 years and held numerous general offices for the church. She worked as a secretary in the Municipality industry. Mary was a graduate from Dale-Carnegie. She was a member of PSI, and from 1982 to 1990, she was a Skin Care Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Scott Campbell, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Carroll Marshall Campbell; sons, Steven Carroll Campbell and wife Kerrie, Michael Rodney Campbell and wife, Elaine; sister, Mattie Cooke Ball; brother, Glenn Franklin Cooke; grandchildren, Kelly Bronaugh, Philip Campbell, Scott Campbell, Shane Campbell, Kala Sipe, Wendy Weatherman, and Jessica Robinson; great-grandchildren, John Bronaugh, Taylor Campbell, Eli Sipe, Garrett Sipe, Kaitlyn Sipe, and Zettie Robinson.
A Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at North Newton Baptist Church in Newton with Pastor Tom Earley and Pastor Raymond Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
The Campbell family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. at North Newton Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are Brandon Sipe, Brett Weatherman, Devin Robinson, Philip Campbell, Scott Campbell, and Shane Campbell.
