Joanne Jarrett Heavner

JOANNE JARRETT HEAVNER, age 85, passed away September 30, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Herman Heavner for 69 ½ years. Daughter of the late Homer and Eoline Jarrett, Joanne was the loving mother of Michael (Sue), Randy (Pamela), Rick (Carrie), Colleen Phillips (Mark), Linda Doza (Douglas), and Mark (deceased). She was grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of seven. Joanne was the sister of Ned Jarrett (Martha), the late Jim, Keith, Don Jarrett and Helen Sigmon and dear aunt, great aunt and friend of many.

Joanne was a precious wife, mother and homemaker. She showed her love for Jesus by her service to church ministries. She taught Sunday School for children and adults for more than 45 years and served in many leadership positions, including board of elders and church council. She was honored to be the first female president of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Brooklyn, OH. Most of all she led a life devoted to glorifying her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be held at the Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home, 56 Northwest Blvd., Newton, NC 28658 on Saturday, October 1, 2016, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Christian Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church 4536 Hickory Lincolnton Hwy, Newton, NC 28658 with Rev. J. George Gilbert officiating.
