Joann Cozort

JoAnn Lowman Cozort, age 89, of Conover, NC, went to be with her Lord on April 9, 2025 at TerraBella Assisted Living in Newton, NC. Born July 14, 1935 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late John A. Lowman, Sr. and Mabel Claire Storey Lowman.

JoAnn was a 1953 graduate of Hildebran High School and had worked at various hospitals throughout North Carolina as an x-ray technologist and registered nurse. Her life was marked by volunteerism and service to her church and community. JoAnn’s greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Stuart Lee Cozort, Jr.; three brothers, John A. Lowman, Jr., James W. Lowman and L. Wayne Lowman; and granddaughter, Joanna Frances Terry.

Survivors include her son Stuart L. Cozort, III and wife Julie of Burlington, NC, daughter Julie C. Terry and husband Greg of Bluffton, SC; grandchildren, Stuart L. (Buck) Cozort, IV and wife Danielle of Burlington, NC, Madeline T. Clein and husband Bret of St. Augustine, FL, and Alexander (Alex) G. Terry and wife Emily of Anderson, SC; great-grandchildren Porter O. Cozort, Caroline K. Terry, and Brady M. Clein; special friends, Maria Rhinehardt and Tina Simpson.

A private entombment service was held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton, NC, with Rev. Scott Hooks officiating.
