Janice Kay Hefner

Kay was born October 9, 1941, in Catawba County; she was the daughter of the late Charles Lewis Madaris and Mary Evalina Bowman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Daniel E. Hefner, of the home; one son, Daniel E. Hefner, Jr., of Newton; one daughter, Sandra H. Starnes and husband, Bryan of Granite Falls; one brother, Gary Wayne Madaris and wife, Karen of Startown; five grandchildren, Lindsey Starnes Jones, Christian Daniel Hefner, Jessie Margaret Starnes, Jacob Bryan Starnes, Alexander Mark Hefner; and two great-grandchildren, Ada Vivian Jones and Behr Daniel Jones.

She was a long time member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Conover.

Kay loved being a godly wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The source of her happiness was her faith relationship with Christ, her covenant relationship with her husband, and her servant relationship with her children and grandchildren. Kay spread God’s love every day of her life by sharing her love everyone around her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sheila Diane Morrow.

The Hefner family will be receiving family and friends at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Conover, NC. The memorial service will be held following the receiving at Faith Lutheran. A private graveside service will be held after the memorial service.
