Born January 1, 1923 in Catawba Co., she was the daughter of the late Homer Eugene Sipe and Adelia Hester Turner Sipe.
Hazel was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Newton and she retired from Bassett Furniture where she worked for 35 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Earl Sipe; and her sister, Dorothy Sipe Finger; grandson, Michael Huffman.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Garland Leroy Huffman of the home; son, Ronnie Huffman and wife, Soundra of Newton; daughter, Vickie Barrineau and husband, Bill of Charlotte; brother, Glenn W. Sipe of Conover; and her sisters, Sue S. Kirkley of Charlotte, and Mildred Sipe of Conover; grandchildren, Chris Huffman, Roseanna Huffman, Amanda Holland; great grandchildren, Bonner, Chloe, Alexander, Bella.
A service of resurrection will be held Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church with Rev. John Lingle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
