Georgia Faye Matthews Goforth

Georgia F. Matthews Goforth, age 80, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016, after a period of declining health and a brief stay at Abernethy Laurels of Newton, NC. With the assistance of Hospice of Catawba Valley, she died peacefully with her family by her side. “Georgia Faye” was born August 2, 1936 to the late Clarence Roy Matthews and Helen Sigmon Matthews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby L. Goforth; brothers, Odell “Perry” Matthews and James “Jamesy” Matthews; sister, Doris Harris; two grandchildren, Andrew Irby and Megan Goforth.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Danny L. Goforth of Florida, Cynthia G. Irby of Hickory, NC, Felicia G. Hildebran of Connelly Springs, NC, Melissa “Missy” Marculewicz of Hickory, NC; brothers and sisters all of Conover, NC, Carl Lee Matthews, Margaret Hefner, Gracie Bolick; grandchildren, Neal R. Hildebran Jr. of Vale, NC, Heather Hildebran of Connelly Springs, NC and Leigha Hildebran of Lenoir, NC, Matthew Marculewicz of Hickory; great-grandchildren, Lilly Hildebran of Vale, Karleigh Hildebran of Connelly Springs and Delilah Hildebran of Lenoir.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2016 in the chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home, 56 Northwest Blvd, Newton, NC 28658. Rev. Ralph Abernethy, III will be officiating.
