Gary Vernell Shaver

Gary Shaver, 78 years of age, passed away from natural causes on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Carolina Caring’s Catawba Valley Hospice House. He was surrounded by his family during the moments of his passing.

Gary was born November 8th, 1944 in California to the late Hugh and Rose Shaver. Raised in Jackson, Michigan by his parents and paternal grandparents, he was the youngest of two children, he and his sister, Sandra. He served in the National Guard from 1965 to 1967 with an honorable discharge, and moved with his family to Newton, North Carolina in 1988.

Gary loved dancing, adventuring outdoors, hunting, and all sorts of motor vehicles, but first and foremost he loved his family. He was a kind and caring man, and never hesitated to help those in need. He spent his days playing with his dog, Happy, and working as a real estate agent after his retirement from Clark Equipment Company, where he served as a Senior Engineer for many years. He went swing dancing every Saturday.

He is survived by his two children, Andrew Shaver and Jamie Keller, his three grandchildren, Logan Keller, Katelyn Ferreira, and Jonathan Alexander Shaver, and his sister, Sandra Davis. A private memorial for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
