A native of Clifton Forge, Virginia, he was the son of the late Melvin and Mary Jack Combs. He retired from the printing industry and began his own landscaping company, Apache Landscaping.
Surviving Mr. Combs is his wife of 18 years, Nancy “Cord” Combs; by a daughter, Rhonda Kay Combs of Maiden; by a son, Andrew Davidson and wife Erin Bowman of Asheville; by a brother, Ronnie Combs of Madison Heights, Virginia, a brother, Roger Hite of Loretto, VA and nine other siblings, all of Virginia. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Tristan Blake Malcolm and Hattie Pearl Bowman-Davidson.
The family will receive friends at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM. A memorial service celebrating Mr. Combs life will follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Vince Linney officiating.
