Doris Murray Teague

Doris was born on March 10, 1922 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Burgin Wilson Murray and Bessie Cleopas Queen Murray. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Vale where she enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching the adult women’s Sunday school class for more than 35 years.

In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wilkens Teague; a son, Kenneth Wilkens Teague; grandson, Larry Cook; sisters, Anna Maude Williams, Mavel Flack, and Bessie Evelyn Waters; brothers, J.L. Murray and Alonzo Murray.

She is survived by her children, Cecilia Holman and husband, Edwin of Vale, Charles Teague and wife, Mary Anne of Chambers, AZ, Janet Young and husband, Jerry of Hickory, Rachel Cook and husband, Hubert of Vale, Lawana Spencer and husband, Butch of Hickory; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Vale, NC with Rev. William Kanupp officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home at 56 Northwest Blvd, Newton, NC 28658.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
