Donald Combs

Born May 14, 1935 in Albemarle County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Collie Combs and Ethel Skeen Combs. Donald graduated from Virginia Tech in 1956, and then worked at the Naval Proving Ground. He served in the Army Ballistics Missille Agency, then worked at the Army Missile Command as an Aerospace Engineer and Physicist for the Department of Defense at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. Don enjoyed walking in the woods with his faithful canine companions and was a member of Davidson United Methodist Church in Davidson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Combs and grandson, Tristan Burks.

Donald is survived by his wife, Janice Combs of the home; son, Timothy Combs and wife, Camille of TN; daughters, Valerie Burks and husband, Zachary of FL, Jennifer Key and husband, Wayne of AL; grandchildren, Rory Burks, Kaleena Burks, Schuyler Burks, Riley Key, Baylen Key, and William Combs; sisters, Pauline “Polly” Engberg of CA and Marie Lane and husband, Arthur of VA.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
