Born December 31, 1932 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Sidney Clifford Campbell and Mattie Bell Campbell Campbell. Carroll was a lifelong member of North Newton Baptist Church in Newton and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was an Air Force veteran serving as Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. He was a 1951 graduate of Newton Conover High School and a graduate of Clevengers College, earning an Accounting Degree. Afterwards, Carroll was a sales agent with Western and Southern Life Insurance Company and then retired from Gulf States.
Carroll loved his family and friends, including all his furry friends over the years. He truly will be missed by everyone!
In addition to his parents, Carroll was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Cooke Campbell, and son Gregory Scott Campbell. Along with his brothers and sisters: Twins: Floyd and Myrtle, another set of twins that died at birth, Flossie Carter, Dorothy Moose, Bernice Rash and Frank Campbell.

Great-grandchildren: John Bronaugh, Taylor Campbell, Eli Sipe, Garrett Sipe, Kaitlyn Sipe, Macie Weatherman, Audrie Weatherman, Zettie Robinson and Reagan Robinson
The Campbell family will receive friends on Thursday, December 17th, 2020 from 12:00 noon to 1:15 pm at North Newton Baptist Church in Newton, NC.
A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:30 pm at the church with Reverend Raymond Hamrick, Jr., Reverend Kyle Patton and Reverend Curtis Hagler officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory with full military honors, including bagpipes and taps.
Pallbearers are Scott Campbell, Philip Campbell, Brandon Sipe, Brett Weatherman, Devin Robinson, and Jerry Long.
