Betty Joyce Sigmon

Born October 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James Edgar Sigmon and Gladys Marie Frye Wilson.

Joyce was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Newton. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and cooking. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Michael Monroe Sigmon; sons, James Monroe Sigmon, David Glenn Sigmon; and brother, Larry Edgar Sigmon.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael “Kenny” Sigmon and wife, Carol of Newton; sisters, Mary Alice Fisher of Hickory, Carolyn Kuchenbecker of Newton; grandchildren, Lance Sigmon and wife, Tatum, Josh Sigmon, Jeremy Sigmon and wife, Jessica, Benjamin Sigmon, Lauren Piper and husband, Chris, Chris Sigmon; great-grandchildren, Alexia, Mayson, Brody, Evan, Chase; and special friend, Karen Copeland.

The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2016 at St. James Lutheran Church in Newton, with Rev. Ron Orovitz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., at the church.
