Betty Jean Brown

Betty Jean Early Brown, 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Open Arms Hospice at the McCall Hospice House in Greenville, SC. She was the wife of the late Brenard Gaston Brown. Originally, from Concord, NC she resided in Newton, NC for more than 70 years.

Born to Zelmer Braxton and Callie Elizabeth Hartsell Earley in 1931, she is survived by three children: Lynn Brown of Newton, Scott Brown (Sally Brown) of Greenville, SC, and Leslie “Bunny’ Brown (Allison McCall) of Hickory; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Betty enjoyed shopping, especially for shoes and enjoyed spending time in both Blowing Rock and the isle of Palms, SC with friends and family. Independent and strong she lived on her own well past her 90th Birthday. She will be missed.

The family wishes to thank the Open Arms Hospice at the McCall Hospice House for providing compassionate end of life care.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 14, 2023 in the chapel of Willis Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
