NEWPORT NEWS – Richard Earl Sturgis, Jr, 66, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 12, 2014. He was born in Newport News to Richard E. Sturgis Sr. and Shirley Marie Sturgis. He retired from the City of Newport News. He was preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his children, Rachael Keller (Rich) of Newport News, Amy Blank (Mitch) of Union, CT, David Sturgis (Cheryl) of Coventry, CT his two granddaughters, Jamie and Shawna. He is also survived by his sister Terry Grice (David), his brother Trent Sturgis (Rhonda) both of Newport News and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give thanks for all the love, support and prayers during this time of loss. There was a private graveside service on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by Peninsula Funeral Home.Burial arrangements under the direction of Peninsula Memorial Park.
