Gail Elaine Meyers, 86, of Seminole, Florida passed into eternal peace on April 24, 2020 in Southbury, Connecticut. Born Gail Elaine Corser, September 8th, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Helen Adelaide Lawrence and Dallas Howard Corser. Growing up, Gail lived in Detroit and spent summers at the family farm near Chesaning.
She married Thomas J. LeClair in March, 1952, and started a family. Moving around the country over the next two decades, Gail focused her energy on raising her sons Dave, Mark and Michael and settling them into every new community. She enjoyed summer visits to the family cottage on Burt Lake near Indian River. During this time she developed her talents as an actress in community theatre, a classical pianist and vocalist, and as an oil painter.
Gail was remarried in 1982 to Stan Meyers and became Gail Meyers. She enrolled for the first time in college in 1979 and went on to receive a BS in Gerontology and Psychology from the University of Bridgeport (1985) and an MSW in Clinical Gerontology from Fordham University (1988). She worked in the field of gerontology, most notably as the social worker for North Fairfield Geriatric Center in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Gail lived in New Canaan, Connecticut from 1971 until 1994 when she moved with Stan to Florida to enjoy a milder climate. Together they enjoyed an active retirement full of travel, participation in local theatre and entertaining. Stan, her husband, and also best friend and companion, passed away in 2004.
Gail’s interment will be in Florida, and a memorial service will take place at that time.
She is survived by her sons, David LeClair of Boston; Mark LeClair and his wife Kathy Doornbosch (grandsons Ryan and Evan) of Trumbull, CT; and Michael LeClair and his wife Kimberly Parker (grandsons Ethan and Jared) of Watertown, MA. She also leaves behind nephews Russell Corser and Nathan Corser, and niece Susan Daigle, as well their spouses and children.
