Ronald James Johnson

Ronald James Johnson, known affectionately as Ron, passed away on August 13, 2024, in Tehachapi, California, at the age of 81. Born on February 22, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, Ron spent his early years in Van Nuys where he attended St. Elisabeth Grade School followed by Notre Dame and Van Nuys High Schools.

Ron's career began in carpentry, framing homes and buildings, showcasing his meticulous craftsmanship. He later dedicated 16 years to the U.S. Post Office before retiring. A man of many interests, Ron cherished the outdoors. His retirement years were spent in Bear Valley in Tehachapi, CA, where he and his wife Virginia transformed their property into a perfect haven, enjoying the beauty of their mountain community and engaging with neighbors during their regular walks, regardless of the weather. Ron also enjoyed basketball and enjoyed frequent trips to Laguna Beach, Cambria and Las Vegas.

Ron was a generous individual, supporting various charities and ensuring his estate continued this legacy of helping the less fortunate. His life was marked by a blend of kindness and a firm, sometimes stubborn resolve that endeared him to many.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Virginia; daughters Jessica Risdon and Angela Bartholomew; stepson, Anthony Simoni (Jaimee); stepdaughter, Jean Johnston; sisters, Susie Pointer (Howard) and Patricia Marquis; and brother, Michael Johnson and families.

A service to honor Ron's life will be held at the Small Chapel at the entrance to Eternal Valley Mortuary and Cemetery, 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321, on September 3. The viewing will commence at 1:00 pm, followed by the service at 2:00 pm, and graveside at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow at 25536 Fountain Glen Ct., Stevenson Ranch, CA 91381.

Ron passed at his home with his family, as he wished, after a long battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome.
