Dick was born in Superior, Wisconsin on November 13, 1932 to Irish parents, Edward and June Mahoney and proud he was of his Irish roots. He enjoyed the great outdoors as a young man. Later in life, golf became his hobby and he was a member of the Valley Businessmen’s Golf Club. During football season there was no other team but the Green Bay Packers.
Richard and his friends joined the service to serve their country during the Korean war. He looked back on that time as some of the best years of his life. He was a very proud American – a true patriot.
Richard never met a stranger and was a wonderful story teller. He was also a man of faith.
All of Richard’s working years were spent in the hearing aid business. He was a pioneer in that industry where he worked with major manufacturers. He also opened retail offices in Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, and California.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Donna, a sister, Rosemary Bement, sons Richard, Jr, Timothy and Martin and daughter, Laura, as well as grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His wife’s family was special in his life and he loved them dearly.
Our sadness in his passing is more than offset by the joy, the wisdom, and the love he left behind.
The family service will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in his name.
