Phil was born to parents, Antonio and Guadalupe Lerma on March 26, 1946 in Pacoima, California. He was the youngest of five siblings. Phil attended and graduated from San Fernando High School, Class of '65. He also graduated from American Barber School in 1966. He served in the U.S Army from 1967-1969. He opened a barber shop business with his brother, Jess, in the Santa Clarita Valley in 1972. He was one of the founding members of the San Fernando Valley Chapter of M.A.G.A (Mexican-American Golf Association). He enjoyed being on the golf course, bringing lots of joy and laughter to everyone. Phil is survived by his two remaining siblings, Ray and Jess, his lifelong partner, Rosa Reyna, his daughter, Denise Lopez, and five grandchildren.
