Nancy Ellen Russell

On May 22, 2023, Nancy Ellen Russell of Canyon Country, CA passed over to be with the Lord. She was in Valley Presbyterian hospital in Van Nuys fighting a long courageous battle with severely infected lungs caused by Covid back in March. She was 74 years old.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years Joseph and blended family Celeste and Chris Olsen of Burlington Vermont and their children Noah and Madeline. Also survived by the extended family Teresa & Manuel Vasquez and their children, Rosie, Victor, Brittany and Nicolas. Of Lancaster, CA Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Victor & Virginia Williams of Canyon Country, CA.

Nancy was born on March 4,1949 in Glendale, CA. She graduated from Hart High School 1971 and went on to attend college but was stricken with severe Rheumatoid arthritis and returned home. There was no blocking its advance in those days and she was given injections to stem the pain. Despite the pain, she worked starting as a truck driver for family business Bouquet Canyon Stone Co. She continued working 30 years in that business through much effort and even through the crippling and disfiguring caused by Rheumatoid arthritis continued and rose from driver to secretary and became President of the company.

Nancy married Joseph in 1993 after meeting through a mutual friend. A year later she accepted Josephs proposal at the Hotel Bell Aire restaurant over dinner. They traveled together coast to coast and Nancy’s favorite place to visit was Ventura. She loved The Lord, &The Bible and read it daily. Enjoyed Baseball, Drag racing, Cats & Dogs, feeding & watching birds, Old movies, Judy Garland, 60’s & Classical & Religious music. Played piano wonderfully until rheumatoid arthritis stopped her. She loved to laugh and was witty. She generously supported a variety of charities and ministries and helped many individuals one on one.

A celebration of life for Nancy is scheduled for June 13,2023 @2:00 PM at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Newhall. The family asks that donations be sent to Opendoors 3919 East Chapman Ave Orange, CA 92869 web www.opendoorsus.org/EN-US/ in lieu of flowers.
