Cooky was the daughter of George and Olive Allanson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee and daughter Karen.
She is survived by her younger brothers James Allenson and Willard Allanson; loving nieces and nephews.
Cooky grew up in Minnesota where she met her husband Lee. Soon after marriage they moved to sunny California. Cooky adapted to the amazing climate and quickly became a true Californian.
Cooky worked for a short time at AT&T before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She then received her Teaching Degree and became a Teacher for K-12 Students of Los Angeles County.
Cooky and Lee celebrated the birth of their daughter Leslie “Karen” on September 15, 1952. She and Karen shared the same birthday. Cooky always said the birth of her daughter Karen was her very best birthday present ever received.
Cooky loved the Theatre and Opera. Her favorite performance was The Phantom of the Opera. She and Lee saw this production multiple times. Opera’s at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion were one of Cooky’s most favorite things to plan and look forward to.
Cooky, Lee and Karen were all devoted animal lovers. Over the years, Cooky and Lee loved many dogs. Cooky’s last dog was named Lucky. Lucky accompanied her to Silverado where he was enjoyed and loved by all the residents. Cooky treated her dogs with loving care; unconditional love and food!
Cooky retired as a Teacher after more than 25 years of service. She was devoted to her young students and challenged them with wonderful learning projects and assignments.
Cooky passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Silverado Memory Care in San Juan Capistrano, CA. She was loved and cared for by amazing Caregivers who thought of her as one of their most elegant residents.
On Wednesday, January 21st at 11:00 am, a Memorial service will be held to celebrate Cooky’s life at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 North Sierra Highway, Newhall, CA 91321
