Lou Ann Christine Granger was born September 14, 1952, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She was joyfully welcomed by her loving parents Velda and Arthur Doble. After Velda passed away, she was raised by Gwendolyn and Arthur Doble and grew up with her sisters Karle and Connie in La Cañada, California. She attended schools in Michigan and Colorado, followed by La Cañada schools, where it became clear that she possessed boundless curiosity and intellectual promise, having particular interests in science and math. She was graduated with honors from La Cañada High School at age 15. She went on to the University of California, San Diego, and the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics when she was 19. She met her husband-to-be James Granger while working at Analog Technology Corporation, and they married in 1971, afterward pursuing many hobbies together, including pairs ice skating. While working at Bendix Corporation in Sylmar as a systems engineer, she, along with her husband, welcomed their first child, Michael James, in 1979. She then received her Masters of Science in Systems Engineering from West Coast University, Los Angeles. In 1988, she welcomed her daughter, Courtney Ann.
While working at Bendix, Lou Ann traveled all over the globe, participating in a number of Naval sea trials, where her acclaimed work with underwater sonar devices was put to the test. Upon retiring after many years with Bendix, she continued exploring a variety of passions with her children, including baseball, track, and dog shows. At the same time, she started her own rubber stamp company called Echoes des Voyages. She soon expanded her artistic interests and stepped up her travels, tirelessly setting up international artist workshops and classes. All the while, she made time for her myriad friends and joined them in eclectic, spontaneous adventures in far-flung places. She traveled to over 63 different countries. She began to follow her passion for writing as well, attending writers retreats all over the world and working enthusiastically at polishing her craft. She published her first book, With Love for the Journey: Life Lessons from the Artist's Travel Journals. She was in the process of finalizing her second book, Isabel, at the time of her passing on January 11, 2020.
Having completed a joyful life well-lived, Lou Ann leaves her beloved husband, James, her two children, Michael and Courtney, her father Arthur Vincent Doble and sisters Karle and Connie.
