How I miss your big, beautiful smile. It was the first thing I noticed about you. It became a symbol to me that everything would be alright no matter what. It gave me strength and hope. I felt lucky to be able to see it every day. 

The unending love that you had for your family, our dogs (and all animals), friends, those in need, and me is something that this world needs more of. I know that there was so much more that you wanted to contribute to this world, but the people that knew you, were better for knowing you. Your compassion, intelligence, wisdom, humor, and empathy was felt by everyone you came in contact with. Knowing that you weren’t happy unless those around you were happy shows the world how much it will miss one of its greatest heroes. 

I miss you every day. You were such a big part of my life. I feel that half of me is gone without you here. But I know that you would be upset about me dwelling on your passing. You would want me to focus on the good times. Luckily, there were so many good times to remember that I will never run out of them. Thank you for sharing those good times with me.

This has taken me a very long time to do,  Oh, Lisa!  How much I miss you,  I'm still in shock and trying to cope even though it's been more than 6 months. 

Reading through everything Debbie said, I couldn't agree more.  She has managed to say everything that I've been thinking.  She is so right in pointing out how hard it is to capture who you really are.  You are such an amazing person and had so much love in you.  It just poured out in all the things that you did:  the wonderfully creative gifts, the unique cards with yours and Brian's name printed in as the logo on the backs.  And there were also the special gourmet dishes made especially for a specific person or occasion.  You just put your heart and soul into everything that you did.

I understand Debbie's profound loss.  I lost my sister.  Sisters have a bond that runs so deep.  I have had many painful losses, but losing you, my middle child, my sweet baby girl is life shattering.  But, we all must go on.  Nothing will fill that huge empty space that we feel.  But we are a family and the best way to remember you is to keep the family going.  And, we are trying.

I can't tell you how much I miss the antics of my two crazy girls.  You both made me laugh so much.  I loved the times when your brother could be in town to join in the fun.  The three of you can fill a room with your personalities and always fill my heart withso much joy and pride.

Not being able to talk to you anymore is probably the hardest thing.  I still find myself, every day, ready to reach for the phone to call you.  I realize now that the pain of losing you will never lessen, but I am so grateful for the time we did have with you.  You've impacted our family in ways you probably never could have believed.  All of us miss you so very, very much.  I love you Lisa.

Sisters. 
They share a special bond that is impossible to describe. 
It can only be felt and understood by the sisters who share it. 
They go through life together as a team, helping and supporting each other

Lisa (part 3)

For better or for worse we encouraged zaniness and recklessness in each other. Additionally we also shared a lot of similarities. The list is too long and it’s too hard to get into now but just know that we both reacted the same way to most things, have basically all the same fears like being terrified of bees, spiders, basically all insects, we tended to freak out over our own shadows and have been known to slap ourselves because we thought a fallen hair strand was a bug crawling on our arm.  Conversely, Lisa was also the most sound and tethered to reality. We could count on her to be there for us and without hesitation. Her loyalty to family was powerful. Her attention to detail and care was impressive.  She became the family point person and we were grateful. 

I could go on and on. Like how she and I could spend 2-3 hours on the phone while watching an awards show or just catching up on things, like gossiping about pop culture, talking about the Olympics, new music or the wacky Kardashians or talking about our growing interests in positive thinking and rediscovering our intuitive natures  but I’ll stop before they start dimming the lights or playing me off stage. 

Right now when it comes down to it, I don’t understand any of this. I’m still in shock. Call it denial. But I think like most, I will remain in a perpetual state of loss. During all this, it would have been LISA that I would have contacted, LISA who I would have turned to...Lisa who would have helped me shorten this. 

It’s gonna be a long time before I remember that she’s not a phone call or text away. And it’s gonna be even a longer time before I feel close to whole again. 

Lisa was the best. 

Lisa (part 2)
I’ve heard many describe her as eccentric. But I feel that eclectic is a better way to describe her. She liked what she liked and there was a rhythm to it. She didn’t care if you could hum to it or even hear the tune, the beat her drums made. She was in her own world and she was happy. And I liked visiting her world and getting lost in it with her. Because that’s where the magic lived. 

Music was magical to Lisa. She loved passionate singers and good entertainers. She use to say that she would be happy just sitting on a lounge chair at dusk with a cool drink in hand, listening to some good soulful tunes. I told her that was everyone’s good time but I couldn’t disagree that the way she described it along with the soundtrack of her making made it feel all that much more special. 

I loved Lisa’s vivid imagination, she was very creative, she made fantastically hysterical birthday cards for everyone in the family, cards where she would super-impose your face in some unlikely scenario, it was a lot of fun and everyone looked forward to receiving one from her. She also designed very cool interior accents in her home. I was so impressed with her ability to reclaim old wood and iron and make it into something beautiful and personal. She along with Brian made folding tables, serving trays, home accents, other furnishings, decorations, her list was growing and so was her ambition to start a new business. 

You know, when Lisa and I were little girls I came up with the idea for a spray that would kill all types of bad odor. We called it Stink-away-all-Spray and together we created a hilarious commercial that included celebrity impressions. Now fast forward a bit. It took us a minute before we realized that we had the idea for Febreeze back in the 70s but agreed that while their name was better, ours was more accurate and funnier. 

But this is who Lisa was for me. She was my partner in crime. She was my Ethyl and other times my Lucy.

My attempt at an Eulogy for my sister. March 1, 2018.

I was having a hard time focusing. So many thoughts flooded my mind and then it all went blank. So here I stand with a heavy heart and troubled mind staring at words I hope I can get thru and all I can hear is my sister telling me to breath and just roll with it. 

So please forgive my indulgence but I’m only going to speak briefly on my personal relationship with Lisa. My sister was complex, passionate, generous and loving. She was different things to different people so to try and touch on all of that would only annoy her. Let’s just say that she had an arsenal of very expressive faces and that there is one that would let me know that I’m rambling on and about to get the Showtime at The Apollo cane. 

So let me start with this- Lisa was my best friend and I loved her. She knew me better than anyone, the good the bad and the ugly. She listened to me, she supported me, she put me in my place, she challenged me, she inspired me but most of all she was my comedic partner. Hands down, Lisa was the funniest person I know.  She made me laugh like no other. She was so clever, witty and fast. We could spend hours just going back-and-forth with one liners. Through tears and sore smile muscles we would beg  each other to stop. Now trust me,  that’s a good time.

Lisa was also hard to get to know and that’s because she was truly a private person. And there’s nothing I can share that would even begin to scratch the surface of who Lisa was. No one story or one collective memory could tell you the whole picture. Whether that was by design or not, I can tell you that not being able to describe her more than a tiny bit would both amuse and again, annoy her (I say this lovingly). I mean she’d like that she couldn’t be pegged down but she’d also furrow her brow and ask, “who the he%# is asking about me and why?!”.  

Lisa was funny that way. She could say so much with a sly smirk and a raised eyebrow.  (Part 1)

Please accept our deepest condolences for the loss of Lisa.  We pray that our loving Heavenly Father (Psalm 83:18) provides you the much needed comfort during this difficult time.
