Linda was born in Glendale, California on December 8th 1951 to Ray and Marjorie Alvey. She lived her life to the fullest and journeyed through life with a consistent passion for helping others and nurturing her spiritual path.
Linda was married to Anthony Jack Barrett on April 30th 1991. They shared 29 years of loving companionship and adventure during that time. Linda and Anthony had one son, John Anthony Barrett who is currently engaged to Helen Guzman. John and Helen gifted Linda with two beautiful grandsons Alexander born on January 8th 2017 and Mathieu born on December 22nd 2012. Linda’s 2 grandchildren added joy and love to her life.
Linda is survived by her sister Marysue and her husband Ray, her brother Michael and his wife Danna, her brother John and his wife Amber. Linda was blessed with 3 nieces Alia, Kristen and Jennifer and 3 nephews Michael, Brandon and Noah. Linda was the fun Aunt and cherished every moment, encouraging goofiness while loving and nurturing her nieces and nephews.
Linda had many careers/jobs in her life never squandering an opportunity to try something new or pursuing a path to something fulfilling. Her ultimate career path was in Social Work after graduating USC with a master’s in social work and obtaining her LCSW, she spent much of her life guiding, helping, caring, nurturing and loving people. Linda touched so many lives with her compassion, non-judgmental and soft loving presence.
Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and was always the one in the middle of the room laughing the hardest and never taking herself too seriously. Linda’s passions were family, reading, meditating and pursuing her spiritual path. Linda was a devotee of Self Realization Fellowship and a recent Kriyaban initiate.
Linda enjoyed to travel throughout her life and when she retired in December 2016, she found herself traveling in an RV with family spending time at the beach, mountains and desert. She loved to go bike riding, hiking/walking and exploring new places. She even soured over vineyards on zip lines on the Central California coast.
Linda lived her life even after her cancer diagnosis in November 2017, babysitting and nurturing her grandchildren and continued to travel, living her life with dignity and compassion for those around her.
She will be missed and will always be in heart.
