John was a wonderful example of a family man. Hosting Sunday dinners for his huge family brought him great joy. Each summer for over three decades he and his wife, Jane, vacationed with all of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in Mammoth Lakes, California. This ten day event became a favorite amongst all, and is awaited with great anticipation each year. John and Jane raised a family that love to spend time together.
John's greatest devotion was to the Lord. He could often be found bent over his Bible, concordance and pad and paper at the ready. His desire was always to know God and His Word more fully. He loved to share what he learned. He led by example, and introduced Jesus to many people.
John loved Jane with an inspirational dedication. They were such a great example of putting the other first in their nearly 63 years of marriage. She called him her Sweetheart and he called her his Jackpot. They both felt profoundly blessed by their marriage.
John was a four sport athlete at Santa Barbara Catholic High, and went on to join the football team at UCSB. He ultimately transferred to SDSU, graduating with a degree in Engineering Management . He worked as an executive in the music industry for decades where he had opportunity to travel, often with Jane. After retirement he enjoyed volunteering at church, gardening, and sitting in the yard with Jane, enjoying the weather and recounting their many blessings.
John is survived by his wife, Jane, their children; Brian and Melinda Dietz, David and Stacy Dietz, Greg Dietz and Isabelle Jolicoeur, Philip and Deborah Stupar, and Mark and Rebecca Chin; and his grandchildren; Geo and Christina (Dietz) Sanchez, Alex and Amanda (Dietz) Gutierrez, Aaron and Brianna (Dietz) Avarca, Daniel and Shelbie Dietz, Chelsie Dietz, Emil and Stephanie (Dietz) Fanelli, Derek Dietz, Robbie and Elyssa (Dietz) Bruce, Timothy and Kyler (Stupar) Bushra, Carlos and Torrie (Dietz) Fernandez, Darin Dietz, Ashlynn Stupar, Torben Stupar, Caleb Chin, Elias Chin, Gabriel Chin, and Micah Chin. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren; Orion, Gianni, Johnny Soda, and Khylie Sanchez; Leela and Jamie Gutierrez; Major Avarca; and Charlie Jane Fanelli. He is preceded in death by his son, Steven Dietz, and his granddaughter, Jenna Dietz.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.
