Hilda grew up in New Orleans, LA where she attended Tom Lavone High School in New Orleans, LA. She then met and married James Oscar Hodges (who preceded her in death). From their union they had 11 children.
Hilda worked for 25 years as a presser in the dry cleaning. In 1979 Hilda decided to move her family to Los Angeles, California. In 1986 she moved to Panorama City where she resided for 24 years.
Hilda enjoyed cooking, taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed life, music, and dancing. Hilda shared many stories with her family of her life experiences. Hilda was a huge inspiration to anyone that came into her life, and if you were lucky to have met her you would have been welcomed into her life with open arms and lots of love.
Hilda Mae Smith-Hodges passed away on April 24th, 2010 at the age of 84 years young peacefully in her home in Panorama City.
Hilda Mae Smith-Hodges is preceded in death by her daughter Lisa Smith and leaves to cherish her loving memories to her 10 children. Charles Sterling, Carolyn Jones, James Smith, Janice Smith, Debbie Smith, Brian Smith, Ronnie Smith, Lynell Benjamin, Linda Smith-Lewis, and Rene Smith and three son-in-laws, Samuel Robinson, Joseph Benjamin Sr. and Mark Lewis. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
