Floyd Johnson, 80, passed away after a lengthy illness.
He was born in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, and grew up in Detroit. After proudly serving in the Marine Corp during the Korean War, he returned to Detroit, where he met his wife of 55 years, Nancy. They met in January 1960, and were married that November. Days after their marriage, they moved to Southern California, and in 1962 moved to the Santa Clarita Valley. Floyd joined the LA County Sheriff’s Department in August 1961 and retired 31 years later, having spent the majority of his career in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Floyd and Nancy loved to travel. They were able to visit nearly 40 countries and he was always planning their next adventure. When he wasn’t “On The Road Again”, he enjoyed golfing. He was a member of the Newhall Saugus Jaycee’s, American Legion, VFW, 1st Marine Division Association, LA Chapter and Vista Valencia Men’s Golf Club.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he leaves behind 2 daughters, Heidi (Howard) Fannon and Holly (John) Scaramella, a grandson, Steven Floyd Burton and his fiancée Alexandra Stillwell, his brother Ted (Judy) Johnson of Portland, 2 nieces, 2 nephews and many friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents and younger brother Larry Johnson of Troy, MI.
