Mike was born June 20,1939 in Freeport, Illinois to Willis & Mary(Mauer) Shelton. He grew up there along with two younger brothers, Bill & Pete. Graduating from St. Mary's High School.
After H.S. he worked while continuing his College Education. He met his future Wife, Lilly, while working at the Dept. of Agriculture in Maryland and they were married soon after and became Parents to four daughters. His Girls were very loved and supported by him in all their various endeavors. When 2 Granddaughters & 2 Grandsons arrived over the years, he loved being a Grandpa and sharing that loving support with them as well.
Mike achieved his Educational Goal, A Bachelor of Science Degree, from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill
in 1974. He retired from his U.S. Government Career in 1994. He was then a Substitute teacher in the Saugus School District and also taught Religious Education at St. Kateri for 14 Years. In these roles he was a positive influence on many young lives.
Mike was proud of his Military Service in the Army and then his Naval Reserve Career, retiring in 1997 as an Aviation Electronics Technician Petty Officer First Class.
Mike loved the Washington Redskins, Pizza, Root Beer, Pistachio Almond Ice Cream & Lemon Lush. His love of Dachshunds, Dad Jokes, Star Trek and Harry Potter were shared with all of us.
Preceded in death by Parents: Willis Edward and Mary Matilda & Brothers: William Robert & PeterArthur.
Mike is Survived by his Wife of 60 a-3/4 years, Lilly.
Daughters: Kimberlee & Husband Tracy Miller, Jennifer & Husband John Lindquist, Cynthia & Andrea
Grandchildren: Kristin Shelton & Fiancé Joseph Thomas, Evan Lindquist, Valerie Lindquist &Joshua Miller
