Earl Daniel Boyd "Danny"

Earl Daniel Boyd, lovingly known as “Danny” or “Shotgun” was born August 15, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA to his parents Earl D. Boyd and Freda Boyd. Both parents have returned home to their Father. Earl was blessed with 4 siblings, Leatrice Sheffey (deceased), Joyce Boyd, Gerald R. Boyd and Jerome D. Boyd.

Earl was a fighter from the day he was born until his homecoming. He was faced with multiple medical issues throughout his life but he was always victorious based on God’s plan.

He attended Westinghouse High School where his love for football began. He was never able to play due to lingering injuries from a car accident when he was 10 years old. Instead, he became the manager of the football team and was highly respected by his peers for his courage until he graduated in 1966.

Following graduation Earl moved to Brooklyn, NY and lived with his devoted cousin Beulah L. Early. He attended the Harlem Hospital School of Nursing. It was there that he met his wife Annette and step-daughter LaShai. Earl graduated from nursing school in 1976 and began his RN career at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn.

Earl and Annette were blessed with their first son Troy in September of 1977. They embarked on a cross country expedition the summer of 1982 with LaShai and Troy in the back seat of their Toyota and landed in Canoga Park, CA. On December 4, 1982 Earl and Annette were joined in matrimony, and in January 1985 they were blessed with their second son, Christopher.

Due to complications from one of his medical issues, Earl was declared legally blind. Yet again, he did not let that status define him or his family. He attended training at the School for the Blind and was a star member of their bowling team. His independence was unmatchable. He would take public transportation by himself to school every day.

Earl was committed to his children. He became a Baseball Dad, Basketball Dad, Football Dad and Track/Field Dad. All of those organizations quickly learned that he was one they could rely on. There was never a game or a meet being held without him on the sidelines.

Earl loved music and entertaining,. He developed into a closet Chef with his very own specialty dishes. It was the little things that were important to him. FAMILY always came first. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Earl was pre-deceased by his wife Annette February 2012. He leaves behind his children, LaShai, Troy and Christopher. His grand children Ayanna, Kaylah, Kaleiyah and Bryce and a host of other nieces, nephews and extended family who will all miss him dearly.
