Desmond Joseph Anderson, a 60-year resident of the Santa Clarita Valley, passed away on February 12, 2021 at 7:30 pm, at the age of 100 years. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends.
Desmond was born on August 12, 1920, in Schreiber, Ontario, Canada. After the passing of Desmond's mother Mary Theresa in 1925, Thomas Anderson moved his family of three children to Thunder Bay, Canada. Desmond eventually immigrated to the United States, where he met and married Marjorie Simpson in Detroit Michigan. After the birth of their fifth child, the Anderson family moved to the San Fernando Valley and ultimately to the Santa Clarita Valley in 1961. Three additional children were added to the Anderson Clan.
Desmond was a long-time banker, and retired as a cash room controller for Six Flags Magic Mountain. After retirement, he worked part-time for Burke's Vending until the age of 85.
Desmond is survived by his eight children: Susan, Margaret, Mark, Dean, John, Thomas, Cheryl, Mary, their spouses and partners, 11 grandchildren and their spouses, and 19 great-grandchildren. Additionally, numerous nieces and nephews still reside in several cities in Canada. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Katherine Simpson Anderson, sisters Margaret and Verona, and his great-granddaughter, Journey Carrero.
Desmond was a long-time member of St. Clare Catholic Church.
