Charla June Hooper, a beloved mother and longtime member of the Antelope Valley community, peacefully departed on March 9th, 2024. Born on August 2nd, 1959, her journey touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of enduring love and compassion.
Charla, the daughter of Beverly June Snyder and Charles Anderson, found solace not only in her biological parents but also in her stepmother, Norma Anderson, and stepfather, Terry Snyder. She was a loving sister to Marcy and Jim Harrison, Jim and Carla Gamble, Janice Gamble, and Dean and Kelly Snider. Despite the challenges of divorce, Charla remained a cherished daughter-in-law to Sam and Elaine Varner and a close friend to Dallas Varner, Abby's father. She was also the devoted widow of Richard Hooper, whose memory she held dear in her heart. Radiating a free-spirited hippie ethos, Charla infused each encounter with warmth and empathy, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
At the core of Charla's being was her unwavering bond with her children, Abby Varner and Alex Anderson. As a devoted mother, she found profound joy in nurturing and guiding them through life's adventures. Their laughter and milestones were the lifeblood of her boundless love and steadfast support. Embracing her role as a grandmother to Marlee Hurt, daughter of Abby Varner, and Riley Anderson, son of Alex Anderson, Charla revealed in the beauty of connections, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. She also treasured her daughter-in-law, Justine Kimble, and warmly embraced the extended family with open arms.
Charla's expansive circle of love further encompassed numerous "self-adopted" children and grandchildren, with the Reiman family—including Mel and Johnny Rieman and their children, Madi, Oliver, Ryder, and Emilia—holding a special place in her heart. Among her closest companions were Carrie Quinton and Jim Frame, whose camaraderie brought her great joy and solace. Charla's nurturing spirit and enduring love for her children and grandchildren will forever shine as a beacon of light in their lives.
Ever welcoming and inclusive, Charla embraced individuals from all walks of life with open arms. A source of great joy for her was found on the racetrack, where she wholeheartedly supported her son and late husband, Alex Anderson and Richard Hooper, sharing in their passion for racing. Beyond the racetrack, Charla delighted in dancing to her favorite tunes in the kitchen, savoring the simple pleasures of life on the porch with friends and family, and crafting ornamental creations lovingly dubbed "Char's Trashy Treasures."
In honor of Charla's love for racing and people, the family kindly requests donations to Victory Junction, an organization that held a special place in Charla's heart.
