When Catherine was just seven years old, the youngest members of the family moved to Los Angeles, CA. As a teenager, one of her favorite things to do was take the bus see Frank Sinatra perform. She often went alone, in the dark of the night. She was a dedicated fan. Catherine sang in her high school chorus, and her friends admired her beautiful voice. Later, when she was barely old enough, she got a job at the nut counter of Magee's, at the original farmers market. This is where she would meet her loving husband of nearly 69 years, Glenn. Catherine had cut her finger while working. and Glenn was there to bandage it. He thought she'd make a wonderful wife, and three months later, she was his, Glenn always said that Catherine was the best thing that ever happened to him.
The young couple started their family with daughters Carol and Nancy. After moving to Culver City, CA. they were blessed with three sons, Mike, Ken and Jim. Catherine encouraged Glenn to become a firefighter which involved some sacrifice on her part. She spent many nights alone with the children and sometimes holidays. She was a loving and very nurturing mother, who kept her household going.
In 1957, the Ebert family moved to Canoga Park, CA. It was here they couple had their last baby, their son Jeff. Along with raising her children, Catherine went to school and then worked as a Nurse's Aide in the Hospice field. She also kept busy babysitting the grandchildren which were starting to come.
Catherine and Glenn's home was inviting and filled with love Catherine hosted many, many parties and outings for her family, extended family and friends. She paid attention down to the last detail, always making sure everything was just right. She was an incredible hostess, and could entertain dozens of people and make it look effortless.
Around 1985, Catherine and Glenn started a Day Care Center, which they ran for about 15 years. Countless babies got off to a good start under their care. But, even while running the Day Care full-time, Catherine managed to continue to do all of the wonderful things she had always done for her family and friends too.
Catherine's beloved husband, Glenn, passed away August 21, 2015, a month shy of their Wedding Anniversary. She passed away just six months later on February 17, 2016 surrounded by the love she created. Catherine is survived by six children, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and countless extended family members and friends, all who will greatly miss her.
