Born January 3, 1921 in Palmerton, PA to Joseph and Mary Svetik who had emigrated from Czechoslovakia. Anne fought the effects of Parkinson’s disease for the past ten years but finally succumbed to its wrath on December 7, 2013.
In 1939 Anne attended the World’s Fair in New York. In 1940 she moved to Southern California and loved dancing to Big Band music and to any Polka Band she could find in the L.A. area. She also enjoyed attending Dodger games with her family and an occasional fun bus trip to Las Vegas. Anne worked for forty years at ITT General Controls in Glendale, CA; first as an assembler, then as a lead lady and finally as a supervisor. When she retired in 1990, she volunteered at Villa Scalabrini retirement home and spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Vito C. Romano; her daughter, Marianne D. Green, and her brother, Joe Svetik of Jim Thorpe, PA. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Anne is survived by her son, Vito J. Romano and his wife, Gloria of Granada Hills, CA; her brother, Paul Svetik and his wife, Mary of Palmerton, PA; her seven grandchildren, John, David, Andrea, James, Jeanette, Brian and Jason; and her fifteen great-grandchildren.
